Ms Griffith’s delegation included senior representatives of various trade organisations including the Association of Interior Specialists (AIS)and the Construction Products Association. As shadow Minister for Business Innovation and Skills, Ms Griffith was particularly interested to hear the views of Dividers’ Managing Director, Mr Dennis Lewis in relation to practical business issues SME’s are now facing such as difficult market conditions, increasing regulation and the availability of finance.

Nia Griffith the Member of Parliament for Llanelli visited the manufacturing facilities of Dividers Folding Partitions Ltd Mr Lewis escorted Ms Griffith and the rest of the delegation on a tour of the manufacturing facilities, where the MP met many staff and employees and was enthusiastic to learn more about the expansion plans of the Company.

As a result of the visit, Ms Griffith raised a question in the House of Commons on 11th August to the Chancellor of the Exchequer Mr George Osbourne……..

“Last week I visited the Dividers Folding Partitions factory in my constituency. In common with many other construction products companies throughout the country, it is very worried about the prospects for immediate economic growth, particularly in light of public procurement cuts. What precisely is the Chancellor going to do in the very near future to stimulate demand and growth, so we can create and safeguard jobs in the private sector? We do not want to be fobbed off with the sorts of answers he has just given to my right hon. Friend Mr Meacher and the Chancellor’s party colleague, Mr Binley.”

2008 AIS Contractors Awards Winner

Dividers Folding Partitions recently won the silver award in the operable Wall category of the 2008 competition. Sponsored by Lafarge Plasterboard, the competition recognises outstanding installations in many fields of the interiors fit-out sector.

The winning project was an operable wall at St Luke’s Church in Birmingham designed by Architects Byrom Clark Roberts. Dividers are in the enviable position of being manufacturers as well as installation contractors and this enables them to control the entire process from design through to installation.

The installation consisted of a Dividers type 100 operable wall with a sound attenuation rating of 50dB. The panels were finished in an oak veneer with intricate inlays. The wall allows the division of a larger space into two smaller areas and provides a high degree of space flexibility.
